Current & Past Projects
Students gathered, inventoried and packed supplies for Hurricane Helene victims. All items were packed into watertight containers that the recipients could keep and reuse to protect the few belongings they had remaining.
Student Leaders made beaded bracelets to sell as a fundraiser to raise money for Disaster Relief. They worked afterschool and at the HALO office. They are pictured selling their items at the HALO Wings of Charity Gala.
Students from Hoban High School and Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School collaborated and spread information about HALO Foundation to the community at a Fundraising Fish Fry on September 11.
Student Representatives and HALO Benefactors visited Ashville, NC to pass out donations collected throughout Northeast Ohio. The HALO team is pictured below with folks from the local Women’s Shelter dropping off cribs, bicycles and soccer balls for the women and children in need.
Hurricane Helene Relief
After filling two (2) semi trucks with medical and other necessary supplies for the victims of Hurricane Helene, our generous supporters sent our Student Representatives to Ashville, NC to help distribute donations. The students built cribs and bicycles to give to the people in the community that needed them most. The students were given a tour of the devastation area, visited a veterans center, and distributed items in a shelter for women and children in crisis. The Students were able to see first hand how their donations helped those in need and remind those receiving that Hope Always Lives On!
PROJECT DONATE
Students from Manchester High School worked with us to help sort donations for various like minded charities in our community. We sorted donations for the Valor Home, The Oak Clinic, Summit Liberty House, and an El Salvador Mission. Over 230 boxes were sorted, labeled, and cataloged before being distributed to the various organizations.
Flag Drop Box
HALO partnered with Akron community members to create a drop box for the retirement of worn American flags. It is the only one of its kind located at a school in the state of Ohio. Students at Resnik Community Learning Center in Akron voted on the wrap for the steel box, which was made by metalsmithing students at the career center. The project and dedication ceremony was a wonderful community effort made possible through the contributions of Akron Public Schools, Sgt. Todd Fitzwater, MGySgt. John MacLean and Cadets: East High School CLC Marine Corps JROTC, Boy Scouts of America Troop 1, Cub Scouts Pack 3001, Orval Hawkins and students from the East High School CLC welding program, APS Career Education, Flags of Freedom/ Steve Toohey, Power Media, the Alcoa Foundation, and Resnik Community Learning Center students and staff.
