Drowing is the number one cause of death for children under the age of five in Arizona surpassing deaths related to motor vehicle accidents.


Who's at Risk

Children ages 4 and under have the highest drowning death rate and account for 80% of home drowning. These typically occur in swimming pools or bathtubs.
Male children have a drowning rate 2 to 4 times higher than female children. However, female children have bathtub drowning rate twice that of male children.
If you have a child 6 years of age or younger.
If you have a pool with no fence or a broken fence.
If you fail to provide constant supervision around water.
