Event Raises Awareness for Water Safety and Drowning Prevention

More than 220 swimmers from across Arizona will attempt to break the current Guinness World Record™ one-hour relay swim on Sunday, August 10 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Paradise Valley Pool, 17648 North 40th Street in Phoenix. August Brings Fifth Annual Drowning Impact Awareness Month

PHOENIX, Ariz. – (July 21, 2008)

For the fifth year, Arizona will unite this August to fight child drownings. Our state is second in the nation for these preventable tragedies, and the searing heat and back-to-school distractions of August make it an especially risky time. To date in Maricopa County alone, nine children have drowned; two of those fatalities occurred in the past week. Read More
